Yoga Teacher Training |

Foundation of Training The yoga teacher training program of SamsaraSukha School of Yoga (RYS) is designed in small-group format to teach a practice of cultivation and preservation of balance and well-being for every individual. The program provides exceptional education and training to become a knowledgeable and qualified yoga teacher and more effective practitioner. Graduates are thoroughly trained and prepared as yoga teachers, eligible for registration with Yoga Alliance at the Registered Yoga Teacher 200-Hour Level (RYT-200). In a marketplace that is growing larger every day, registration with Yoga Alliance declares fulfillment of educational requirements and commitment to continuing education and ethical standards (please refer to Yoga Teacher Training Application or www.yogaalliance.org).
Program Dates and Schedule Classes for the Autumn 2010 teacher training program will meet: · August 27-29 · September 10-12 · September 17-19 · October 5 · October 8-10 · October 19 · October 22-24 · November 5-7 · November 12-14
Tuesday and Friday classes meet from 6 pm to 10 pm. Saturday and Sunday classes meet from 9 am to 7 pm (one hour for meal/snacks). Students must also attend at least four small group classes at the studio within program duration (10 classes are included in tuition to support student’s training and practice).
The teacher training program consists of 180 contact hours (in-class) and a minimum of 20 hours of non-contact hours (homework). Homework includes required reading of Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (Sri Swami Satchidananda) and may include journaling, nature walks, etc. A recommended reading list will also be provided.

Curriculum SamsaraSukha School of Yoga supersedes basic educational standards for yoga teacher training by integrating introductions to advanced and relevant topics such as: · Ayurveda, the Sister Science of Yoga, an ancient-holistic science of healing · Yoga Therapeutics · The Art of Sequencing · Prenatal Yoga · Restorative Yoga · Nutrition for a Yogi/Yogini · Sustainable and Organic Living · Applying Your Skills as a Yoga Teacher
This program fulfills Yoga Alliance Standards of Training: · Techniques Training and Practice: Guided practice as well as a comprehensive approach to learning how to practice and teach yoga asanas, pranayama, kriyas, chanting, mantra, meditation, and other traditional yoga techniques. · Teaching Methodology: Principles of demonstration, observation, assisting/correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, the student’s process of learning, and business aspects of teaching yoga. · Anatomy and Physiology: Human physical anatomy and physiology and energy anatomy and physiology. · Yoga Philosophy/Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers: History of yoga, yoga philosophies, yoga teacher lifestyle and ethics. · Practicum: Practice teaching, receiving feedback, observing others teaching and hearing/giving feedback, and giving assists in classes taught by others.
Program Tuition Tuition for the 200-Hour yoga teacher training program is $2,300 and includes scheduled group contact hours and one weekly small group yoga class at the studio to support your practice. A $100 non-refundable application fee, which is applied towards tuition, is payable with submission of Yoga Teacher Training Application. $1,000 deposit payable one week prior to program start date. $600 due by end of second weekend module. Balance of $600 due at start of fourth weekend module. A discount of $150 is offered for: 1) registration before August 6, 2010, and/or 2) tuition paid in full prior to program start date.
